Conservation has been at the heart of our portfolio since we started the practice in 1972. We have a strong philosophy centred on the careful analysis of each conservation project; we’re passionate about maximising the special architectural and historical characteristics of each building or conservation area. This approach has served us well, allowing us to obtain Planning and Listed Building consents, which have helped transform and bring a viable future to buildings that had outgrown their intended purpose.
Education Projects
At DLG, we’ve enjoyed working with schools, colleges and universities on a range of projects, from extensive student communities to early years’ provision and sports facilities. At the heart of every project is a deep understanding of the unique pressures and client needs, developed through a process of collaborative engagement and dynamic briefing. Keeping up to date with research and industry developments is critical for us to deliver creative, flexible and lasting outcomes for our clients.
Hotels Projects
Working on hotels for bespoke, high-end operators to some the world’s leading chains. Our experience of the design, delivery and crucial technical elements of leisure projects mean we have expert understanding; we provide outcomes geared towards optimum commercial viability built on both the aesthetic and practical elements of the project.
Industrial+Logistics Projects
Our expertise in creating spaces for storage and manufacturing means we can create everything from sheds for developers, through to bespoke buildings for owner managers. We also have a particular expertise in the food industry, where for over 15 years we have helped masterplan and create hygienic environments for the installation of process plant equipment and support buildings for several leading food manufacturers.
Interiors Projects
For us, architecture and interior are often indivisible. We think good architecture and successful projects view the finishes and fittings of a space as an integral part – forming a crucial element of a building’s look & feel, sense of space, audial and visual comfort, wellness or green credentials.
Masterplanning Projects
Since our founding in 1972, we have been commissioned to create well thought out, considered places. Delivered well, a masterplan can transform a site, release capital, provide for the future and utilise buildings and external space more effectively. Masterplanning is about strategic vision, and our team are experienced working on projects as diverse as small community-based schemes, to larger masterplans that will redefine the use of a city centre.
Residential Projects
We work across the residential sector; from working with Estates and landowners to devise masterplans and unlock diversification, social housing providers, large PRS developers in multiple cities across the UK, to exceptional one-off dwellings for private clients. We understand the politics and pressures of designing for living, and how good design leads to healthy neighbourhoods and communities. We work across all scales, from neighbourhood masterplan down to the design of one-off joinery items for bespoke residences, tailoring our service to suit the needs of every project.
Retail+Leisure Projects
Our award-winning team specialises in retail regeneration and destination creation, working with landlords to help them maximise and manage their asset to its full potential, whether that’s a full refurbishment, minor redesign or major new-build. Our approach, supported by many years leading the field in this sector and our involvement with bodies such as REVO, has led us to work on some of the UK’s most prominent retail environments, winning multiple awards for design and delivery in the process.
Workplace Projects
We’ve delivered a number of high-profile, innovative and award winning workplaces, both new-build and re-use. The way workspaces are designed is changing rapidly, to a sector more focused on its sustainable future and inhabitant wellbeing. It is this sector leading the way on wellbeing and green initiatives, including retrofit and reuse, and healthy work/life balance, supported by the buildings we create.
