Our Process
Our design process is underpinned by an appreciation and understanding of our responsibilities as designers, and the complexities of construction.
We are passionate advocates of dynamic briefing, looking at every stage for opportunities to enhance and add value that may not have been considered. We test a site’s capacity and uncover opportunities to unlock potential, revealing different solutions for the same problem. We are valued for our ability look at a project from several angles, bringing ideas to the table that make commercial sense to our clients.
We use the best in technology to communicate our ideas. As early-adopters of Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, we have a technically-experienced team of REVIT users and collaborate fully across disciplines during the project.
We use a range of media to test ideas, from handsketching to protoyping using 3D printing technology. We understand the importance of being able to communicate our ideas, and the importance of producing the right material for the right audience, at the right time.
We invest in our capacity to visualise and even walk though our work, using rendering software and virtual reality.
We also continually invest in our people. The Practice offers in-house expertise in heritage and building conservation, low-carbon and Passivhaus design and certified Fitwel & WELLBuilding principles.
All of this expertise informs our approach to every project, and in-turn allows us to develop a unique response to every site, and solutions tailored to individual client need.
Our services
We believe our role is not just to design beautiful spaces; we offer a truly rounded service, acknowledging that good architecture fuses design with commercial insight, strategic thinking and excellence in delivery.
ARCHITECTURE
We work confidently across all RIBA stages, designing and delivering award-winning and community-supporting buildings and neighbourhoods. We design for things to be built.
We quickly turn around feasibility proposals to assess the viability of a site, and are adept at developing planning strategies to maximise collaborative approaches and success. We work with new build and retrofit, across a range of project sectors, enjoying the challenges and opportunities each context offers.
BUILDING CONSULTANCY

HERITAGE & CONSERVATION
We provide solutions which respect the past and are responsive to future needs. We have worked extensively in heritage contexts and with Listed and locally-notable buildings. Alongside our heritage-experienced team we have an in-house conservation architect, allowing us to produce reports for statutory consents and to balance commercial viability with sensitivity to retention of fabric and stakeholder interests.
PASSIVHAUS & SUSTAINABILITY
We have Passiv-Haus and low energy design Principals in-house and take every opportunity s to reduce our impact on the world. We have trained carbon-reduction and Passivhaus skills in-house.
WELLBEING IN BUILDING DESIGN
We are proud to lead the charge on Wellbeing design – it makes commercial sense. We are Fitwel accredited and working toward WELLBuilding accreditation, and working with clients across schemes to deliver the best in livable design.
PRINCIPAL DESIGNER (CDM)
We have in-house qualified Principal Designers well-versed in CDM and safety legislation. We provide services on a range of projects to ensure Clients are meeting their CDM obligations, and advise clients on external appoitnments when project complexities require it.
VISUALISATION & VIRTUAL REALITY
We use Enscape and TwinMotion alongside our 3D modelling software to produce visuals in-house, and work closely with professional visualisers to achieve evocative imagery that can be used to communicate proposals and support funding and investment, planning and marketing.
We also use this technology to produce VR imagery, giving 360° panoramic views of developments. Using this technology not only allows us to share the experience of future developments with clients, but also to review and test ideas in real-time, spotting areas for consideration which traditional modelling and drawing does not provide.
