Story

DLG undertook the comprehensive and sensitive restoration of the former grade-II Windsor Royal Station in the heart of Windsor and removal of modem additions. The former goods yard now provides the location for a new terrace of boutique shops their design and detail reflecting the decorative screen wall which once separated the commercial activity of the station from the Royal route to the Castle. Many of the original features remain, including the Jubilee arch, the cobbled stones and Queen Victoria’s Royal Waiting Room. With over 40 boutique shops, an array of continental style restaurants, cafes and bars and an arts and craft market, the project has provided a vital new commercial and historic heart, and been the catalyst for multiple regenerative and restorative schemes around the town centre.

Since then, and working for a sequence of centre owners for over 20 years, we have employed our extensive knowlege of this magnificent building to propose and test enhancements to the site. From a new, dining-led market hall to diversification of underused land to provide new uses, we have gained consent and delivered mulitple elements within the centre and assisted Asset Managers to unlock value and market opportunities.
