A lifetime’s work…..and now the final phase of SOYO has planning approval!

Since our competition win 20 years ago to concept design a new residential masterplan on the Quarry Hill site, we have designed, developed and delivered multiple phases of the new SOYO cultural quarter.

This final phase will deliver 360 high quality student rooms in a mix of cluster-apartment families and individual studios, giving residents the choice of how they want to live. The development will benefit from communal spaces such as a gym with 24hr access, dining spaces, gaming areas and a private cinema, as well as providing a café with outside seating and a bank of accessible parking spaces. Continuing Moda and DLG’s strong focus on wellbeing in design, occupants can expect the best in student living, on the site of Leeds’ most vibrant new community.

SOYO has been truly transformational for Leeds, bringing investment and jobs to the city, as well as our already-completed, multi-award winning first phase of 515 BTR homes. Phase 2 – Blocks B&C – completes on site in January, delivering 300 new homes.

‘DLG proposals will deliver high quality student housing in a sustainable and accessible location and create a mixed and diverse community of residents. The development will deliver a high standard of amenity for the occupier and  continue the principles of good placemaking established in DLG’s SOYO Masterplan permission.’

We are immensely proud of our contribution to regenerating this part of Leeds, working in partnership with the council and local communities to bring about a masterplan that reconnects this island site with the city.
