DLG’s amitious refurbishment and extension of the post-war Yorkshire House has completed in York, opening as a 150-bed boutique hotel for Malmaison in June 2021.

The building sits in an important heritage context, with views to York Minster from the extensive new rooftop skybar. SORA, and in close proximity to celebrated local buildings and
monuments. To that end, a careful approach to the re-use of this building was required to demonstrate it suitability for hotel use, and to maximise its value, both commercial and to the city.

Since opening the hotel and its restaurants and bars have been frequently booked out, with the new skybar a hugely in-demand and unqiue addition to York’s skyline. Besides the Sora sky bar, the hotel has a brasserie, Chez Mal, as well as gym, treatment spa, conference room for 200 and business centre with work pods.
