Each Tuesday since 5th March, to coincide with British Bake Off Stand Up to Cancer, an anonymous baker has brought a homemade delight into the DLG office. After being demolished by the team, the bake was then anonymously judged and at the end of the competition, the bake(r) with the most votes won a voucher to a restaurant of their choosing.
Conservation expertise has been a key part of our skills at DLG since the practice first started over 45 years ago and we are still passionate about maximising the special architectural and historical characteristics of each building we deal with.
Last week, Arup Leeds and Gardiner & Theobald hosted a scenic bike ride over the high hills of the Yorkshire Dales. Amy Pearce from our Leeds Studio enjoyed the 50 mile bike ride, and additionally rode another 30 miles to get there and back. Bravo Amy!
Victoria from our London studio is speaking at the Cityscapes Conference in Dubai this October. Cityscapes is the world’s largest property and development networking event for emerging markets, and promises an excellent four days of networking and educational talks. If you’re going, let us know!

Victoria is delighted to be sitting on the RIBA’s education committee for the forthcoming year, ensuring the next generation of architects are encouraged through their studies, promoting inclusivity and diversity, and supporting students from all backgrounds.
Our David Bailey was a guest speaker at the CIAT Yorkshire Personal Development Day, held at Leeds Beckett University on 6th June. The theme was ‘Creativity in the Built Environment’ and David’s presentation provided insights into the design process behind the award-nominated Ashville College Sports Centre.
DLG London celebrated the arrival of summer – and the beginning of the London Festival of Architecture - in style with our friends in the Leather Market. LFA is running from the 1st – 30th of June 2018 with events, exhibitions and installations across the city.
We’re delighted to be participating in the ‘Architecture Leeds’ event, organised by the LSA to celebrate architectural practice in the Leeds area. Taking place between 6th April - 13th May, the event will feature a pop-up exhibition, series of lectures and schedule of exciting activities.
Since starting my job as a Part I Architectural Assistant at DLG I feel like time has flown by. It wasn’t only the start of my first ‘real’ job, but I had braved moving alone to London, all within weeks of leaving university. I hadn’t done any work experience at a practice beforehand so although I had spent 3 years studying architecture, I really didn’t know what to expect.
