‘Everyone who works hard should be able to enjoy a visit to the shops at the weekend’

Last year’s Wolfson Prize was won by a proposal to increase the size of existing towns and cities by taking a ‘bite’ out of the green belt. This scheme would provide much needed new homes, reinforce existing town centres, and see off the competition from out of town shopping centres, but it seems that these ideas have not translated into the new governments policy to build 200,000 starter homes for young people or 95,000 homes on brownfield sites.
